Risnjak Mountain Trek
Rules and regulations
All competitors participating in the trekking race Risnjak Mountain Trek must comply with these Rules and regulations. Any breach of these rules will not be tolerated or accepted.
The organizer of the race reserves the right to modify these rules, if changes upgrade the security of competitors during the race. In the case of changes or amendments of the rules, all competitors will be informed in due time.
We hope that all competitors shall thoroughly study and bear in mind the rules and regulations, so as to avoid problems and uncertainties which may occur due to ignorance of these rules and regulations.
Article 1: Entry terms
1. All competitors must be 18 years of age, except under conditions under paragraph 3.
2. Competitors younger than 18 years of age may take part in the competition only if accompanied by a person of age that assumes liability for the under age competitor.
3. 16 years of age is the minimal age for the under age competitor.
4. The person accompanying the under age competitor signs a liability statement by which he/she accepts liability for the minor.
5. All competitors by enrolling, registering and competing in the competition are by default considered to be consent to competing at one's own risk, and that they are familiar with all rules, instructions and potential dangers.
6. All competitors participating in the race must have a valid health insurance.
Article 2: Categories
1. On the trekking race Risnjak Mountain Trek athletes can choose between two categories: Ultra (longer course) and Mountain (shorter course)
2. In the both categories is permitted to compete as single racer or like a team (two athletes)
Article 3: Timing
1. Timing starts with the starting signal and terminates after the finish line is crossed.
2. The race organizer is the official time keeper.
3. The time schedule for reaching check points and the finish line is defined in the instructions
4. Arriving at the check point, or finish line, after the time limit, implies disqualification.
Article 4: Final standings
1. Final ranking on the race is divided to the two categories: Ultra and Mountain.
2. In both categories total ranking is divided for Male and female athletes.
3. Members of the same team are in the final ranking separated like single competitors. This rule apply for all categories.
Article 5: Race registration
1. Registration: on-line on our web page. It is also possible to register via e-mail: adnatura@adnatura.hr , by sending all the information solicited in the on-line registration application.
2. Registration is limited by an entry date deadline.
3. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline.
4. Registration for the race is considered valid if the team/individual registering has made the payment prior to the deadline designated by the race organizer.
Article 6: Entry fee payment
1. Entry fee payment is possible only by payment to the bank account of the organizer.
2. If the entry fee has not been settled prior to the deadline designated by the organizer, registration of the team/individual will not be valid, i.e. the team/individual will not figure in the list of registered participants.
3. In the case of withdrawal before deadline designated by the organizer the Entry fee is refundable.
4. In the case of withdrawal after deadline designated by the organizer the Entry fee is NOT refundable.
Article 7: Prizes
1. Prizes are awarded for the first three classified in both categories Ultra and Mountain: separated for women and men.
2. Money prizes are awarded for the first three classified in Ultra category: separated for women and men.
3. In the event that one of the first three places is shared by more competitors or teams, the prize money is shared equally among these competitors.
Article 8: Equipment
1. Competitors must have all obligatory personal gear specified by the organizer.
2. Obligatory equipment comprises of the following:
a) Compass
b) Head lamp
c) Cell phone
d) First Aid kit
e) Whistle
f) Race map
g) Race instructions
3. For every single missing part of obligatory personal gear, competitor will be penalized 30 penal minutes.
4. Competitor will be disqualified if total amount of penal minutes exceeding 90 minutes e.g. if more than 3 parts of personal gear are missing.
5. The organizer reserves the right to carry out obligatory gear checks of all competitors at any given moment during the race.
6. The organizer is not liable for any equipment damage or for lost/stolen items of the competitors during the competition.
7. GPS is allowed.
Article 9: Documents
1. Competitors must have the following documents (or their copies):
a) Identification card (or passport for foreign competitors)
b) A valid health insurance card
Competitors do not have to carry these specified documents during the race, but they must have them at one's disposal in the finish line area, together with any additional gear.
Article 10: Disqualification rules and time penalties
1. Competitors will be disqualified for not obeying, ignoring, or denying the rules of the trekking race Risnjak Mountain Trek.
2. Disqualification due to not obeying written instructions for the race.
3. Any unsportsmanlike behavior that jeopardizes or calls into question the reputation of the race, that has for a consequence the damage of private or organizer property.
4. Inability to continue the race for any reason.
5. Taking forbidden routes, forbidden equipment, and receiving assistance from persons not taking part in the competition.
6. The use of any means of transport will result in the disqualification of competitors and the participation ban in any future races held by the organizer.
7. Reaching the check point, or finish line, after the time limit.
8. If total amount of penal minutes is exceeding 90 minutes e.g. if more than 3 parts of personal gear are missing.
9. In the case that competitor/team collect penal hours, they will be added on the end of the race.
10. The chief race referee is the only competent and authorized person to validate the finishing time and the disqualification of competitors.
11. If the competitor does not provide emergency first aid to another competitor in case of accident he will be disqualified.
Article 11: Retiring
1. A team/individual may retire at any point of the race.
2. The team/individual MUST inform the organizer when retiring.
3. The organizer provides for the retired competitors and possible necessary medical assistance.
Article 12: Environmental regulations
1. During the race competitors are forbidden to light fires, pollute the environment and to destroy flora and fauna.
2. Competitors are not allowed to dispose of their trash; they must carry it themselves up to the finish line.
Every item competitors pack into their gear at the starting line must be with them at the finish.
3. It is forbidden to dispose of trash in mountain huts or any other facilities between the start and finish line of the race.
4. At the finish line, as well as at any moment during the race, the organizer reserves the right to inspect the contents of competitor's rubbish bags.
5. For any breach of these regulations, the competitor/team is disqualified, and banned from future races held by the organizer.
Article 12: Sponsors
1. Sponsor logos and advertisements may be highlighted on any personal equipment item of the competitor, except for the area designated for the race sponsors.
Article 13: Safety regulations
1. Competitors must at all time carry obligatory personal gear specified by the organizers.
2. Competitors must have all necessary documents specified by the organizers.
3. Competitors must comply with all written and spoken instructions from the organizer.
4. Competitors must comply with the rules stated in the Rules and regulations document.
5. In case of an accident, competitors who witness the accident must provide aid to competitors in distress.
6. The organizer does not guarantee a swift rescue operation because of possible remote terrain, or unfavorable weather conditions.
7. The race organizer reserves the right to suspend the progress of competitors or the competition if they judge that the security of competitors and the race itself is under threat.
8. Distress signals: flashing, whistling, shouting (6 times per minute/every 10 seconds). A 1 minute pause follows, then another repetition of 6X per minute. Those who spot or hear distress signals respond by giving signals 3X per minute (every 20 seconds). After a 1 minute pause the response is repeated until the distressed party stops giving signals.
Article 14: Complaints and appeals
1. All complaints and appeals must be submitted to the organizer after the end of the competition.
2. All complaint and appeals must be submitted to the organizer in a written form. The deadline is 3 days after the race has ended. All subsequent complaints and appeals submitted after this deadline will not be taken into account.
3. The organizer has to respond to complaints and appeals at the latest 7 days after receiving the complaint/appeal.
Article 15: Course changes
1. The organizer reserves all the rights to change the order of check points and to shorten the length and duration of the race if this is required because of weather conditions or if the safety of competitors is at risk.
Article 16: Media privacy statement
1. All competitors must sign a statement that gives the organizer the rights to use all film and photographic materials for public use and race promotion purposes.
